Got Heals

My favorite thing to say in ESO is, “Let’s go. I got heals.”

My teammates and I were faced with the final boss. 2 Warriors and a Healer. Our Tank left us. We stood there wondering whether to wait for another Tank or just go. “Let’s go,” I said. “I got heals.”

ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) is an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) video game, where people from all around the world get together and game. You can do anything in ESO. Fight, heal, tank, collect, craft, make friends, join guilds, build a palace, and even fall in-love.

For a long time, I played as a Warrior DPS (Damage Per Second), because I enjoyed the thrill of the kill and fighting demons to Oblivion. Even though I was only playing as an online avatar, I was so proud to be a fighter. However, despite ample training, I was never very good, and always fought in the shadows of greater players.

Believe it or not, your choices for your online avatar can directly affect your real life, both subconsciously and consciously. I found myself emulating traits of a warrior. Always ready to fight, do battle, and train for war. As a Lawyer, this was very natural and easy to do, because in many ways the Courtroom is a battlefield. Except instead of fighting with weapons, we were fighting with words.

Years later, I decided to switch from a Warrior DPS to a Sun Goddess Healer. This changed everything for me. Instead of focusing on stamina and strength, I focused everything into magicka, healing, and Sun Power. Surprisingly, I am now stronger than ever before. My healing powers have made me virtually invincible and my Sun Power generates enough DPS to run dungeons solo. Battlegrounds was once a place of dread, but now it feels like child’s play. As a Healer, I am the most difficult player to kill and I keep my teammates alive 10x longer, because I am basically a fountain of heals. My world completely changed from an endless battle to a spring of abundant healing, and I learned very quickly that the Healer is the one who wins the war.

My real world also changed. I now focus on healing, instead of fighting. I speak more words of love, instead of words of hate. My world has become more abundant and I can now manifest magic with ease and grace. Sometimes life forces you to change and many times this change is good, because God will always lead you to a greater light. I’m excited to live my life as a Healer, both in ESO and real life.

“Lord my God, I called to You for help, and You healed me.” Psalm 30:2
